SORGHUM BICOLOR SUPPLEMENT JOBELYN SCIENTIFICALLY VALIDATED AS AN IMMUNE MODULATORThe immune enhancing capabilities of Sorghum bicolor supplement is better described as immunomodulating by the National Cancer Institute. As if by AI (Artificial Intelligence), some components (cytokines and chemokines) of Sorghum bicolor supplement, Jobelyn, regulate the immune system by means of pro and anti-inflammatory processes to achieve chemopreventive capabilities.

The National Cancer Institute in their drug dictionary described Sorghum bicolor supplement as: An herbal-based nutritional supplement containing the leaf sheaths of the plant Sorghum bicolor, with potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, chemopreventive and immunomodulating activities. Sorghum bicolor supplement contains various phytochemicals, including phenolic acids and polyphenols such as proanthocyanidins. Sorghum bicolor supplement is particularly rich in 3-deoxyanthocyanins, such as luteolinidin and apigeninidin, and appears to induce apoptosis and inhibit cell proliferation in cancer cells through the stimulation of various apoptosis promoter genes and the downregulation of certain apoptosis inhibitor genes. In addition, due to the strong antioxidant nature of the phytochemicals, these compounds are able to scavenge free radicals and prevent tissue damage. Also, intake of this supplement modulates the immune system by both increasing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells and initiating the activation of macrophages. Synonym: sorghum bicolor extract Foreign brand name: Jobelyn

The immune modulating capabilities of Jobelyn was demonstrated in clinical studies carried out in Lagos, Nigeria and published in the journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine:

Newly isolated compounds from West African Sorghum bicolor leaf sheaths Jobelyn® show potential in cancer immunosurveillance

Jobelyn®, a West African pharmaceutical product derived from Sorghum bicolor leaf sheaths has been shown to possess strong anti-tumour and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aims to evaluate the expression of cell surface markers CD69 on activated natural killer (NK) cells; natural killer T (NKT) cells; and T cells from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) upon treatment with Jobelyn® fractions using flow cytometry
